State amends town planning law to regularize illegal bldgs

Mumbai: Will Take It To HC, Which Has Rebuffed It Twice.Both the Houses of the state legislature on Saturday amended the Maharashtra Regional Town Planning (MRTP) Act to enable regularization of unauthorised constructions carried out till December 31, 2015.

RR rates hiked, buying home in city set to get costlier

Mumbai: Buying and selling property in Mumbai is set to become costlier with the state government on Saturday declaring the Ready Reckoner rates with an average increase of 3.95%. However, this is the lowest increase for Mumbai since 2010. The average increase for the state is 5.86%.

BDD chawl redevpt work may finally begin in two weeks

Mumbai: The bhoomipujan of the much-delayed BDD chawl redevelopment will be done in the next fortnight. Replying to a query in the assembly on Saturday, minister of state for housing Ravindra Waikar said the government has awarded bids for the projects. .
     

Heritage Committee alters BMC's plan - No high-rises in 80 per cent of Marine Drive heritage area

It's a victory of sorts for conser vationists in the long-drawn battle between heritage and development. The Mumbai Heritage Conservation Committee (MHCC) has suggested that nearly 80 per cent art-deco buildings in the Marine Drive heritage precinct cannot be allowed to rise up to 58 meters to generate funds for redevelopment and repairs.
