High-speed rail corridors: Plan heads towards design

The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) recently invited bids for final alignment designs for six high-speed rail corridors in India. Two of these corridors will pass through Mumbai.
     

City’s shortest Metro line to be most profitable

Only two of the Mumbai Metro projects, currently under execution, have a projected Financial Internal Rate of Return (FIRR) of over 10% indicating that the government expects to justify financing costs for most lines through indirect benefits from the projects. The FIRR is the return an investor can expect from a project for funds invested. If the FIRR is above the cost of funds, the project is viable.

Despite HC stay, BMC ordered demolition of our homes, Sion-Koliwada residents, activists allege

Six months after the Bombay high court (HC) issued a stay on the demolition of koliwadas and gaothans, residents of Sion Koliwada on Wednesday have alleged that they were served notices by the civic body last week stating that their homes would be demolished on Tuesday.
     

23% FSI and fire-safety violations at Kamala Mills, finds civic body

More than two years after a fire at the Kamala Mills compound in Lower Parel killed 14 people, a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) inspection report of the premises revealed 23.24% floor space index (FSI) violations, 11.93% of which pertained to fire-safety norms.
     

Mumbai realtors score big among NRIs, wealthy

NRIs and high networth individuals (HNIs) prefer to buy and invest in properties in Mumbai rather than Delhi NCR and Bengaluru, a report from property consultancy firm Track2Realty said. Out of the top 10 builders, five are from Mumbai, two from Delhi and three from Bengaluru.
     

BMC panel clears Cuffe Parade waste segregation plant
