HC nod to cut 500 mangrove trees for city infra projects

Mumbai: The Bombay high court on Thursday allowed state agencies to cut over 500 mangrove trees for infrastructure projects that were in the “public interest”, reports Swati Deshpande. The projects include an elevated corridor linking Airoli bridge to Thane-Belapur Road, a depot at Malwani for the Mumbai Metro 2A Dahisar-D N Nagar corridor and three bridges across Thane Creek for the proposed Navi Mumbai airport.
     

Rlys plans to upgrade LTT with two 8-storey terminals, commercial zones

Mumbai: Nearly three decades after its construction, Lokmanya Tilak Terminus, which caters to trains to east, north and south India, is set for a massive upgrade, with eight-storey terminals, three more platforms and commercial zones besides multi-level parking and skywalks.

Marina plan only for the rich, say urban planners

Urban planners are unhappy over the Mumbai Port Trust’s (MbPT) plan for a marina at Princess Dock in Mumbai, which will have a capacity of 300 yachts. They feel the project will cater to only a few elites and MbPT should utilise the funds to provide better amenities to Mumbaiites.
