RBI rate cut notional nudge: Realty players

Realty players termed the Reserve Bank of India's decision to lower the repo rate by 25 basis points to 5.15 ''tepid and a notional nudge,'' and said that its efficient transmission by banks to lower cost of capital is need of the hour. Further, a substantial rate cut is required to stimulus consumer demand.
     

RBI cuts key rate again, lowers growth forecast

The monetary policy committee (MPC) of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) slashed policy rates for the fifth consecutive time on Friday and reduced its estimate of growth for the year to 6.1% but suggested that an economic revival may already be underway.

Mumbai: As expected, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) lowered its key policy rate yet again on Friday—the fifth successive time this year that it has done so in a bid to spur slowing economic growth. The latest cut, by a quarter percentage point, brought the benchmark repo rate (the rate at which RBI lends to banks) to a nine-year low of 5.15%.
